Understanding the Squarespace Web Design Process

Before booking, you don’t need anything! But before we start building, there’s a few things you might need to have:

• Copy (written text for your website)

• Layout of the page structure or navigation (sometimes called tabs)

• Solid branding and logo that you are happy with (including fonts, colors, and a high resolution version of your logo)

• Images or stock photography you want to use

• Domain and page descriptions for Google (optional)

If you don’t have all of these things right away, that’s ok! I can help guide you in how to create or source all of these items so your website project goes smoothly. I have team members who can help with copy, logos, branding, and website structure. Book a discovery call and we can talk about the process and figure out what you need.

Typical turnaround time is 3-6 weeks, depending on how many pages and how much content you have. The more services you need, the longer the process can take. That said, I aim to get most projects done in 3-4 weeks.

Through my process, during the execution and reveal stages, I will comb through the entire website in detail to ensure responsiveness on mobile, tablet, and desktop versions.

My extensive knowledge of Squarespace’s Fluid Engine editor allows me to make any changes necessary so that your website functions correctly.

Yes! My unique approach to building fully custom Squarespace websites does not include any heavy code. Minor code and CSS can be added to your website, which I can help you edit down the road if needed, but you do not need to know how to code in order to edit your site.

My four-step process includes Consultation, Execution, Reveal, and Launch. I  create a flexible, seamless experience from start to finish. I provide a clear process with education along the way to help you navigate the uncharted territory of web design. 

First, we’ll discuss what’s in store for this new phase of your business. Together, we’ll cover functionality and design needs and I’ll answer any of your burning questions. Then, I will send a proposal and contract to begin.

Once you get started, I will choose a design direction that best reflects your style and the needs of your business, based on my strategy and expertise. Within a few weeks, your custom Squarespace design will be ready to roll.

Using your inspiration sites, as well as outlines and content you've sent over, the new site will start to take shape with a couple of main elements being created. After one to two pages have been partially or fully designed, you will receive a link via email to view the website in progress.

From there, you will provide feedback based on what you've seen so far, and once approvals have been made, the rest of the site will continue on in the same manner.

You’ll review the final draft of your responsive design, which will be polished on mobile and desktop versions, including tablets and phones. Once you’re satisfied with the design, I will support you through the process of getting your new website live.

I’ll try to get as much information from you as possible during the discovery phase to ensure we’re both on the same page when it comes to the design of the site. If you don’t like something I present to you, rest assured we’ll figure it out together and get on the right track.
